An irregularity on an annual mammogram lead to an ultrasound of an area of concern, which lead to a biopsy, and then the diagnosis that we never imagined to hear - breast cancer. This came out of the blue, and once April got the diagnosis, things started moving very quickly. She’s completed her 3rd of 6 rounds of chemo, after which she will have her surgery and reconstruction; we just found out that there will be another few rounds of chemo after the surgery as well. The entire time this has been happening, she’s also been fighting with her insurance company to get the treatment that she needs for her specific type of cancer, which is certainly not the added stress that she needs right now! She’s looking at a total of at least 8-10 weeks off after her surgery, all while juggling additional treatments and appointments, and balancing everyday life and bills - if there’s one stressor that we can help lift off of her plate, it’s the financial aspect. So that’s what I’m asking everyone to rally and do! Not only will the medical bills begin pouring in, but mom will need to pay all of her regular expenses, plus aftercare treatment, all while not even receiving her full pay. I wish more than anything that I could take the physical pain away from her instead, but this is the least I can try to do instead.
