Surgery Costs

You know, I am sitting here staring at this blank box without much of a clue what to write. Other then that I am embarrassed this is even a necessity.

However, I have to swallow that to ask for assistance. For some background on the situation, back in April 2019 I had to have a polyp removed from my uterus after some severe and heavy bleeding. Things were pretty normal for the rest of that year and then through 2020 I didn’t have anything at all. Since about July of 2021, the severity of such has increased. Most likely to the TMI of most and to keep this generally…not as personal as I could go: I average somewhere between 22-25 days of bleeding a month, with extreme bleeding.

Two ER visits, five OBGYN visits, and two specialist later; we have found out the following things. I have had my blood checked multiple times and since I am (luckily) not bleeding out and my blood levels are in good (though on the low to normal scale) there’s been no “rush” to handling anything. My iron is severely low and I have been put on medications to handle that. There is a 9mm polyp on my uterus and a 3.5 cm one inside of my uterus.

This along with a lot of conversations between the specialists and I have caused there to be a decision to remove my uterus. It has been an emotional decisions, but mostly it has been a struggled choice. Mostly because even the savings I do have currently cannot cover the costs of what things are going to be to be out for such surgery. Between the cost of the surgery itself, the funds to continue to survive for the 4-6 weeks they have projected for my recovery is honestly too much to be capable of coming up with, specially considering there was not much time to prepare. Luckily, I will have FMLA to protect my job while I am out of work; however, due to the amount of sick and vacation time I have had to take to figure out this situation I will not be paid for most this time out of work.

For those curious, I am scheduled August 3rd for surgery.
