Kiwanis Bacon Park ADA Playground
Donation protected
I am committed to providing a safe, ADA compliant playground for children of all ages and capabilities in my community. My name is Subrina - the 2016 President of the Poplar Bluff Kiwanis Club. 2 years ago, I accepted the nomination to Vice President and also accepted a (long awaited for ) sweet baby boy through adoption. My husband and I were so excited! As he grew we realized there were few places to take him where he could play safely on age appropriate playground equipment. I also realized there weren't any playgrounds that offered ADA compliant equipment either. Since our Kiwanis Club owns Bacon Park, it didn't take much to get the whole club interested in the purchase and installation of new ADA compliant playground equipment that would also be safe for toddlers. Our club decided a quick way to raise the funds would be to host a Haunted House. It was incredibly successful the last two years. We've raised aproximately $24,000. If you do the math, you'll see we need $26,000 more. Our goal is to install new equpiment in 2016. With your contribution, we believe our goal is possible! We are so excited about this project! All of our Kiwanis Club members and community volunteers count on the day we can host a ribbon cutting and BBQ for the kids and their families to open the new Kiwanis Bacon Park All Access Playground. Thank you for sharing in our committment. Thank you on behalf of our club, our community, but most importantly, from the kids who need a place to play.
