Hello, beautiful people!

My name is Kari & I’m Ava’s human. I’d love to introduce my precious furbaby Ava…

She a sweet & funny 3 year old ginger girl who has added love & humor to every single day since we first met. We immediately became each other’s & have been ever since. To say she’s a special light is an understatement.

Unfortunately she was recently diagnosed with FIP which until recently was considered a death sentence for kitties. It is a fast moving virus that is fatal without treatment…

However there is so much hope! Thanks to recommendations from an amazing foster cat mom who works with a dedicated rescue (Wrenn Rescue Inc) in addition to a very knowledgeable friend, I found out about a organization & Facebook group where I got in touch with people who have access to an 80% effective curing medication. The drug is not yet FDA-approved, but it is backed by a UC Davis study and trials, and the FB groups are littered with success stories.

I’m also incredibly grateful to begin supportive care with an incredible vet who is absolutely wonderful! (She doesn’t prescribe/recommend the GS drug herself but gave a thumbs up to trust the direction of the Warriors) We couldn’t be in more loving hands for this part of the journey.

I was advised by the FIP warriors group to start her on the medication right away. However, it is expensive, costing $25 per dose, once a day for 12 weeks (84 consecutive day) In addition to ongoing vet visits it feels quite insurmountable to handle all on my own.

Today will be her first dose that I get to learn to skillfully administer.
