"The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still." -Exodus 14:14

In June of 2019, Mark was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. He has gone through numerous rounds of chemo over the last year to reduce the size of the cancer in order to be able to do a stem cell transplant. The original chemo treatment that he was on wasn't fully effective, so he was switched to a much more potent type of chemo treatment in hopes that it would be successful to be able to move to the stem cell transplant. The treatment was successful in reducing the size of the cancer, but unfortunately only for a very short amount of time. Due to the complexity and rapid growth of his Multiple Myeloma and unsuccessful treatment to date, it was recommended that he go to a more specialized medical center. On a Thursday afternoon, he was told that he needed to be at the University of Arkansas Medical Center to begin testing on Monday morning. In a moments notice, the family packed up and travelled down to Arkansas. The goal with the new medical team is the same - to get to a point where he can get a stem cell transplant. He has been admitted to begin the next round of chemo treatment (a new regimen this time). Unfortunately, due to current hospital visitor restrictions due to COVID-19, no one is able to be with him in the hospital. At this point, we are unsure how long he will need to stay down there, as the hope is that the stem cell transplant will soon follow the chemo treatment. The cost of travel, lodging and meals in addition to the medical costs for treatment are adding up. If you would like to assist with the financial burden for Mark and Carlotta, any donation is greatly appreciated.

In talking with Mark, many wouldn't even know the battle he is fighting. His sense of humor and joke telling hasn't changed and he continues to keep his head held high! On behalf of the entire Willard family, we appreciate the outpouring of love, prayers, and support shown over the last year and undoubtedly, in the coming weeks and months <3

May the road rise to meet you, may the wind be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, may the rain fall softly on your fields.
