Cedarhaven Academy is a home school organization faithfully dedicated to teaching the values of family, education, and morality. Children are taught through self-paced, competency-based, hands-on, play-based learning and activities.

Cedarhaven Academy takes an atypical approach to learning and life for atypical thinkers. Because inspired kids, dream big! We are changing the traditional teaching/school system focusing on competency-based, self-paced learning. We work with the child and at the child’s speed. We are a family of like-minded individuals, changing the process in which children are taught to better support them in the learning and development process. Cedarhaven Academy is linking a hands-on approach to life and learning designed for atypical thinkers. Because life is better outside of the box!

Cedarhaven Therapeutics vision, is to provide a safe learning environment for neurodiverse children in order to obtain their maximum potential in a safe and comfortable environment. Our Occupational and Physical Therapists help to integrate the primitive reflexes, aid in developing gross motor skills through vestibular activities, crossing the midline exercises, integrate the Primitive Reflexes, help develop Auditory and Language Functions, as well as play and educational exercises for Sensory Processing Disorder, Autism, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia. We use the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) for help with trauma therapy and calming anxiety. Our indoor gym is designed for children to work on crawling, walking, and balance through the use of suspended equipment including hammocks, platform swings, bolster swings, as well as trapeze bars, climbing exercises, and heavy work exercises for calming.

We are parents and educators of children with sensory issues and are frustrated with the school system, the high costs of therapy and long wait lists. We are here to support the children who don’t fit inside the box. We are here to support the families who have felt alone and defeated at times, on this journey. Our teachers and staff specialize in working with children with Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, Dyslexia, ADD, ADHD, and ODD. Our goal is to provide a place, where our differences make us stronger and bring us together.

We believe life begins at conception and that is to be protected and is sacred.

We believe that every child has a purpose according to God and it is our job as educators to encourage, not discourage a child and fuel their imagination and creativity.

We believe that with our integrated learning style with school and therapeutics, we can meet each child’s needs, right where there at.

Hybrid Learning

We offer online curriculum in the classroom, as well as teacher instruction. School offers basic Bible studies and child-centered learning at a self-pace.

Class Structure

Classrooms are multi-age which allows for children to learn from each other. We have teachers, paraeducators, and volunteers working together for a large network of support within the classroom

Classroom Setting

Days are filled with indoor learning, brain breaks, outdoor learning and exploring. We have an indoor and outdoor playground as well as guided nature walks. Additional assistance is provided through our Therapeutics Center.

About Cedarhaven Academy

We are a group of parents who have come together during the most outrageous time in history. A pivotal moment when our rights as parents are being threatened and taken away. A time when the enemy is strong and attacking us, thinking that we are weak. We have come together to take back our rights to educate our children. Where mandates do not affect the education of our children, we do.

We are in an era where technology has taken over every aspect of our lives. Motivation is low. Children do not go outside as houses get bigger and land gets smaller. I cannot sit at a desk for 8 hours a day, how can we ask that of a child? Our five senses are so pivotal to our development and yet children are expected to not touch anything. We are a school for hands-on learning. Fractions are applied to real-life skills, like making cookies and dividing toys between each other. We are a school where the Golden Rule is not just a saying on the wall, it is a teaching from Jesus in Luke 6:31. We want to build a strong foundation for our children so that they learn how to love each other, because He loved us first.

Therapists

Our Occupational Therapists are trained in techniques for aiding the development of children’s gross motor skills, Primitive Reflexes integration, Sensory Processing Disorder, Autism, Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP), and dyslexia.

Techniques

Combined modalities of reflex integration and HANDLE’s sensory processing strategies.

Gym

We have an indoor play gym and play spaces for free play as well as for sensory integration and developing gross motor skills.

Support Groups

Parent coaching and support groups, advocacy, and consultation. Biweekly meetings for parents to gather and discuss the struggles of parenting neurodiverse children.

Cedarhaven Activities

At Cedarhaven, we believe children benefit from nature. Our goal is to integrate indoor and outdoor learning. Outdoor play is essential for all children and enhances the physical and occupational therapy for children with ADHD, Autism, Aspergers, ODD and Sensory Processing Disorder.

Playgrounds

At our permanent location we will have a natural playground to blend playtime into the outdoors

Nature Walks

Our goal is to have classes outdoor that incorporate learning about the world around us through nature walks and adventures.

Obstable Courses

Every young boy (and some of us adults), would love to practice to be an Ultimate Ninja Warrior!! Courses will bring out your agility and coordination!

Amphitheater

Classes and instruction can take place in our outdoor amphitheater. With future plans for larger guest speakers and events.

Community Garden

Learn how to grow and sustain a garden while also raising food for school snacks and the community food banks.

Retreats

Tiny houses will allow families a chance to have a 3 day retreat to our facility for in-depth counseling and practices.
