Stephanie's Fight

Stephanie is a 39 year old wife and mother of 3 beautiful girls ages 9, 7 and 5. Stephanie was raised in Toledo, OH and graduated from the University of Toledo with her Computer Science and Engineering degree. In February 2017, Stephanie was diagnosed with triple negative stage IIB breast cancer. She immediately started her journey with chemotherapy. This was a very difficult fight; numerous blood transfusions, daily injections, with a variety of harsh and destructive chemo doses . Five weeks after chemo, she underwent a double mastectomy where the procedure did not go as smoothly as anticipated due to the intensive damage from the chemotherapy. Lastly, she suffered over 28 rounds of radiation to complete her treatment. Through it all, the outcome was remarkable with a complete clean pathological response. Through it all- Stephanie was a fighter and overcame every obstacle! Stephanie was able to enjoy almost two years of a cancer-free mindset and was an inspiration to many.  It is with a saddened heart to announce that this week we received unspeakable news. After going to the ER with a severe headache and blurry vision, several masses were discovered in Stephanie's brain. After further tests, additional masses were discovered throughout Stephanie's chest and hip. The unthinkable has occurred, her aggressive cancer has resurfaced and is needing immediate action. Tuesday, Stephanie will undergo brain surgery to remove the larger of the masses. Stephanie has been in complete shock since the news was given. She was hoping to resume her life with her family and friends as 'normal' but unfortunately has been thrown into a medical tailspin. We are sharing her story in hopes of bringing prayers, well wishes, and possibly financial assistance. Stephanie and her family were still recovering from the financial responsibility of her original treatment, as she was off work for almost a year and a half and she now is no longer employed. This is not an easy ask of the family, but as her supporters, we believe her story is compelling and deserves to be heard. Stephanie has a long, yet to be determined, road ahead of her and the extra assistance would offer a large sense of relief. Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts.
