In Honor of Joan Davis

Camp Seabeck would like to recognize Joan Davis with a donation in her memory. Our goal is to donate $5,000 to Seabeck Conference Center which will be recognized with a bench with her name placed on campus. Matching funds will be used to help us reach our goal.
Camp Seabeck campers are mourning the loss of one of our founding members, Joan Davis, who passed in May. She was a staple of early camp experiences, bringing wit and wisdom to everyone and everything she did from leading Vespers to conversations rocking on the porch. Joan and her husband Bob and their three children (twins Mark Davis and Wendy Crocker and their younger sister Ginny Finlan) had been longtime members of the July Family Camp. In 1991, they were one of the families that doubled up on family camp weeks to create “Mini Camp” in June to handle the overflow and waiting lists for Family Camp. That idea is now Camp Seabeck, in our 29th year. Mark and Louisa Davis were our second Camp Chairs in 1992. Wendy and John Crocker were Chairs in 1994. Well into her Eighties, Joan came to Camp Seabeck and we all remember her perfect English accent singing, “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly” from My Fair Lady. Joan will be missed by all of us who knew her, and wouldn’t it be loverly to have a Seabeck Bench where one could sit and have a conversation with Joan?
A bench is our way of celebrating Joan while raising money to benefit Seabeck Christian Conference (Seabeck Conference Center), and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to us all.
