PDX Restaurants Love Cameron Addy
Donation protected
The Portland food community is coming together to show their love and gratitude for having had the pleasure of knowing and worked with the legend that is Chef Cameron Addy.
Never was there a chef who brought such unadulterated happiness to their friends and colleagues.
His sublime talent as a chef was matched only by his wry sense of humor. He was known for singing orders on the line and making a room crack up with just a certain grin and an eyebrow raise.
In the words of one of his co-workers, "He was the kind of guy who made you feel like you'd known him forever in a short amount of time." Chef Addy exuded joy in every room he set foot in.
It is no secret that hospitality is an arduous industry, infamous for extreme working environments and demanding personalities. In this world, Cameron Addy was an anomaly - and a shining star, reminding us all that cooking food should be joyful, a chef should be kind, and a kitchen should be fun. Anyone who worked with him can attest that he was a role model and the type of chef his cooks would aspire to be.
More, he loved his family beyond anything and spoke endlessly about his wife, Linda, and daughter, Ella, who were indeed the lights of his life.
One of Cameron's cooking passions was fried chicken. His southern-style inspired sandwiches were unparalleled. His last concept, "Pretty Penny" had us all hungry for that perfect bite with secret sauce.
Beginning Friday, August 14 through September, the food community comes together to prepare their own unique tribute to Chef Addy, offering the city their renditions of the "Pretty Penny" sandwich -- all proceeds of which will be donated to his family.
