Mi Mero Mole Workers Not Eligible for Unemployment
Donation protected
** RECENTLY UPDATED **
This fund will be used to help the Mi Mero Mole employees that are not eligible for unemployment benefits. It will be split equally among them. No managers or owners of the restaurant will receive any of the funds.
Originally I had planned on this fund being for employees at many restaurants. But the closures have come suddenly and there isn't enough time.
Mi Mero Mole is almost completely shutting down. We will not be able to have more than a couple employees, down from about 20. We laid off the employees eligible for unemployment first, but now with the mandated closures there isn't enough revenue to even support the couple employees that we're keeping on.
I'm going to support my staff however I can, but the failure of Zapapizza left us nearly broke as we tried to keep it going. Hopefully this crisis will only be temporary, but even if it is, most of our employees that are ineligible for unemployment are mothers with families.
Please donate if you can. $50 spent here is a better use of your money than a gift certificate, quite frankly.
I will withdraw the funds to my personal checking account to avoid tax issues and the monies appearing as income rather than gifts. I will then transfer the funds to the employees by cash or check. I have received several private donations from people who didn't want to go through GoFundMe so I will be able to give the employees more than what has been donated on GoFundMe.
Thanks.
