Hello. I’m excited to present to you this important art project which is on its way to be implemented in Cleveland this year.
A mural Peace & Painting with bumblebees, is designed by Ukrainian artist Vera Matazova and to be implemented by Menlo Park Academy students and parents. Its purpose is to draw attention to the importance and concept of PEACE.
- Project Name: Peace and Painting
- Project location: outer part of the bridge Menlo Park Academy, W 53rd. St. Cleveland
- Artists: Iryna Tkachenko, Vera Matazova
- Total coverage area: is 1732.5 square feet
In a time when the world’s future can seem bleak, we want to remind our community that kindness, friendship, love, and creativity are qualities worth developing. By having students participate in the creation of the mural we hope to instill these qualities in them and show them that they can make a positive change in their community.
I’m Iryna Tkachenko, mother of a 4th-grade student at Menlo Park - public school for gifted children, for a year now working on this life-affirming mural – artwork of my lifelong friend who lives in Ukraine with her family. Now we would like to emphasize attention on the importance of peace.
We already secured paint and was approved by local cdc for micro-grant.
We will host a community event for the painting of the mural, with enjoying music, ice cream, and community spirit. People volunteering their time, effort and passion to make this happen.
Schematic plan of the project – resources, people, timelines
We already started on the site preparation work, patching, applying ground cover on the wall, buying materials, and other work consuming activities.
We still need help to arrange financial support and contribute to the artist’s family in Ukraine.
We are sincerely grateful for your contribution and kindness.
Thank you for your attention
Sincerely,
Iryna Tkachenko.
