Peace of mind for Brigid Kaelin
Donation protected
Louisville musician Brigid Kaelin was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma last month and will be having a bilateral mastectomy on October 8. Her mother died of cancer in 2018; her father died of cancer in 2019.
2020 was bad enough when Brigid lost all of her gigs due to this virus that has plagued the world, but when a cancer diagnosis came in on the two-year-anniversary of her mom’s death -- and just as she was finishing up a memoir manuscript about caregiving for two dying parents at the same time -- the plot twists just became too ridiculous to believe.
While good thoughts are so very appreciated, I know that many of you out there want to help out more, so here is a way you can do that. Brigid has long been known for her support of other artists and people and connecting people to their dream gigs, so let’s show her some love.
Money raised will go towards medical bills, caregiving supplies, takeout meals, and other costs that make life easier or happier for the Kaelin household. Brigid’s husband David, her 8-year-old Graham and 4-year-old Angus are all going to take great care of her while she is in recovery and treatment, but the virus, of course, means that friends cannot come inside to help out.
The same surgeon who did her mom’s mastectomy in fall of 2000 will be performing Brigid’s mastectomy. Here’s hoping for clear margins and a straightforward treatment plan.
Brigid is one of the kindest, most talented people I have ever met & it is my complete honor to set up this GoFundMe on her & her families behalf. My name is Jeska Forsyth & I am a full time musician in Austin Texas. Brigid is an extended family member to me as she attended college with my sister in law & they are still best friends.
Please join me in giving this beautiful soul some peace of mind. Brigid's savings has been diminished due to the pandemic & now she is having to come up with an additional 11,000 for her deductible which just ran out. Musicians are souls that are always on the front lines or any fundraiser & lend a helping hand anytime they can & I ask that you join me in offering our helping hands to her and her family. With this strong community rallying behind her she will be able o take the necessary time off of work to heal & take the next steps towards recovery.
The additional 9,000 will go towards Brigid's families mounting medical bills & any remaining funds will be used to pay off any debt inquired in Brigid's life sue to cancer.
I will post updates when I can here & on Facebook via Brigid's facebook page. Please don't bombard Brigid with sympathy & questions, she knows you are there for her but has so much going on in her mind. This is a tough time for everyone but you can help by donating & sharing this link anywhere you can think.
Thank you for your time,
Jeska Forsyth
