Peace Walk Relay

On May 18th, 2024, we will be attempting to run/walk the approximate perimeter of the Gaza Strip, in The Netherlands.

Starting and finishing in front of the Peace Palace (International Court of Justice) in the city of The Hague, the idea consists of attempting to draw a 110-kilometer human-powered line on the map, that is approximately the shape and size of the Gaza Strip. In the process, we will be collecting donations for two NGOs, Save The Children and Oxfam Novib, whose work supports the people who are being directly affected by the ongoing conflict.

In a time where no action or voice seems strong or loud enough to put an end to the suffering that is pouring from Gaza into the rest of the world, we aim to provide people with a tool for turning feelings of helplessness and frustration into meaningful action and use our story as a vehicle for change.

That is why we won't be doing this alone. Instead, we will be doing it in the format of a relay walk/run and give more people a chance to participate in the making of this powerful image.

How will it work?

Starting in front of the Peace Palace, we will walk the first 5-1O kilometers of the route, and welcome anyone to join us. From then on, the fundraising team will continue by either walking or running (but mostly running) the multiple sections of the route, passing a Peace baton between each other, and aiming to bring it back to The Hague in no more than 24 hours.

Join along on May 18th, 2024, between 8:30 and 9:00 AM (CEST) in front of the Peace Palace in The Hague. The first 5-10 kilometers will be open for anyone to join and have a meaningful collective experience.
