PEACH community programming

PEACH is a community hub, a safe space, a home away from home, PEACH is the community. Our story starts 25 years ago when a group of residents and advocates got together to form PEACH which was intended to be a small group of individuals who wanted to combat poverty. In 25 years, we have grown into the place we are today. Today PEACH runs various programs including our School away from school, a program which surrounds youth who aren't accessing their potential with caring adults who help them achieve their dreams. School away from schools allows these youth to achieve their credits in an environment where they feel supported and receive those one-on-one relationships they need to overcome systemic barriers. In addition, our studio drop in program welcomes any and everyone in the community every Thursdays from 2- 9pm. On Thursdays, PEACH turns into a hub for the hip hop culture all across Toronto. We get over 40 youth in the space, every week, and we ensure that we provide holistic support to them. PEACH is truly doing incredible work, our programs work, they interact with youth in a meaningful way.
Unfortunately, we've come to a crossroads, this past year we lost our core funding, and today we face major instability. As it stands, as od December 23rd, our school away from school program will have to come to an end because we cannot afford to keep it running. This means, that students will be forced to leave a place they call home, and severe meaningful relationships with adults they look up to and connect with. They will be forced to leave a program they love and are succeeding in. But that's not all. If we continue down the path we are currently on, within the next couple months, we will have to source out all our programming, including an innovation hub aimed to give marginalized youth a space to learn about STEM technology, our pre-charge diversion program, which advocates for youth to stay out of the criminal justice system, and our 40 developmental assets program which aim to help build assets for youth.
Once our studio program ends, which it will if we cannot secure help, 40 kids will have nowhere to go on Thursday nights, their skills and love for music will no longer be accessible. At PEACH we are trying to ensure this doesn't happen.
We need to ensure our space stays open and our programs remain intact, for the community, for our youth, and for their future. This is where your donation will go.
If you help us with this process, you will be helping the community to continuously have access to the things they love. There are so many stereotypes set against the youth to fail and they have recognized that they are more than a statistic. We will be forever indebted to you. Your donation will go towards creating a generation of youth who feel loved, who are confident and who are smart. Moreover, your generosity will show youth that we care, and are willing to fight for them, something they haven't always believed in. It is a tremendous feeling knowing that your community has your back, and gives the youth a sense of security and well-being; both key in the social development of a young person.
If not anything else, donate knowing that you are keeping the young people smiling, They call this space home, how could we tell them were taking away their home.
