Pearls Lost Film

Hi, my name is Rebecca Ocampo and I am the writer and director of Pearls Lost.
Pearls Lost is a fictional narrative short film set in the Appalachian mountains of Southeastern Kentucky in the early 1990s.
Renee, James, and their daughter Samantha have been living with Renee's ex-husband, Ric, and daughters, Anna and Esther, an arrangement meant to ensure a mother's presence in their daughters' lives. On an idyllic summer day, tensions mount for Renee as a family secret is revealed and a daughter goes missing.
The story is loosely based on my childhood growing up as Hapa: half-filipino, half-caucasian in Appalachia.
My purpose is to shift incomplete perceptions about the region by introducing fresh, new experiences.
With this film we will get the amazing opportunity to connect local/regional and outside talent and crews. The film will also be shot on 16mm film.
Please check out our website: Pearls Lost Film for a director's statement, additional information about those involved, and updates on the film's production!
Our Goal is to raise $15,000 for our production in August 2023. Any donation amount is helpful in hiring local talent and crew, securing locations, equipment rentals, production design and props, transportation, lodging and food.
Our donors will be listed in our credits and we will send you a link to the final cut of the film as a thank you for helping us. Thank you for your support!
