Pearse Brothers Park Community Green Fundraiser

#Save our Green Space because #yourgreenspaceisnext
Pearse Brothers Park Residents in Ballyboden are fundraising for a legal scoping to take a Judicial Review, to fight SDCC management’s and Councillor’s decision to build on our #tinypark
36 Councillors voted on this on Monday 11th Oct at a full council meeting, 28 voted to build on it, 6 voted to protect our green space and 2 abstained. Management and the 28 Councillors who voted to build on our greenspace ignored the Planning Regulator’s submission while acknowledging the selection process was flawed.

In doing this they have breached their own Development Plan, Planning Act and the Aarhus Convention .
To add insult to injury, SDCC are demanding that Ballyboden Tidy Towns remove landscaping enhancements that not only did SDCC approve of but actually funded. SDCC have labelled this green as 'undeveloped lands'.
According to their Development Plan residents in new residential developments should have 15% of the site set aside for open space. In this case Pearse Brothers Park should have 1.77ha but it only has 0.8 ha currently as open space and now SDCC wants to reduce this down to 0.73ha that’s just 4.1 % outrageous discrimination.
How you can help?
Please donate and share our cause with friends and family. We all deserve to have a little green space in our lives.

SDCC wants to remove 100% of all the trees on site including bat habitat.
We say it is a community green that has been enjoyed by residents for over 60 years and provides a safe place for children to play, hosting regular local community events and is home to many bats, foxes and wildflowers. It is a green that is well looked after by residents with regular planting of pollinator plants.
If it is built on it is lost forever for future and for current residents. Hundreds of children will pay the price with no green space to play on, as time and time again SDCC has targeted every green space in our area to the point that we now have 4.1 % compared to 15% elsewhere.
Residents have run a successful cake sale and two bingo events on the green until SDCC denied them permission to have any further events.
We need your help to help us fight this for the future of all green spaces.
