Hi, I’m Kristin, John and Amy’s oldest daughter.
I’m writing with the most humble, and sincerest of intentions to ask for support in loving on my family during this unimaginably difficult time.
The unexpected loss of Pearson has absolutely devastated my family. The pain of losing a child, and a brother, from such an untimely death is something one will never get over. To help lessen the toll on the family, I am arranging for this fundraiser to help offset the cost associated with such a painful loss.
Pearson was a childhood cancer survivor, and because of that he was, unfortunately, ineligible for life insurance. In addition, Pearson was currently residing in Florida, and the Whitaker family will incur additional funeral and transport expenses to have him brought home to be laid to rest.
I know my dad and Amy spend much of their lives giving to other people, and my hope is that we can give back to them to help lessen the burden.
I understand fundraisers are sensitive matters, and I want to make it abundantly clear that I have felt lead to arrange this all on my own. I’ve seen firsthand how this has wrecked them as parents, and my only intent is to try to take away one burden that shouldn’t be there for any grieving family member - the financial burden.
I have set the goal at a number I have estimated to cover the costs, however, if anything is raised above and beyond funeral costs, it will be donated to a specified charity of the family’s choice. I will make that information available to all once it is determined.
