Pectus excavatum surgery and recovery for Kellie
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Billy Zakolski and I'm raising funds for my wife Kellie Zakolski (Newsome). Kellie is having reconstructive surgery on her ribcage to repair a severe condition called Pectus Excavatum. The surgery is scheduled at the Cleveland Clinic on July 11, 2023. Pectus Excavatum is a genetic ribcage deformity, her sternum is compressing her heart and causing severe cardiopulmonary symptoms. Kellie's condition has worsened with age and become very debilitating. It has caused her to stop working, she struggles with day-to-day activities and chronic pain. The reconstructive surgery is very involved with a long recovery but we along with her surgeon are very optimistic that the surgery will improve her heart function and quality of life. We will travel to Cleveland for the surgery, she will spend 5 days post-op in the hospital and then will need to stay nearby for aftercare for at least two weeks. Depending on her recovery and pain tolerance we will then decide if she is comfortable to travel back to California or stay closer to Cleveland. Funds raised will go towards medical bills, travel and aftercare for Kellie's recovery. Thank you for taking the time to consider a donation, offer words of encouragement, or share this fundraiser. We are so grateful for the love and support from our family, friends, and community.
