Pedal Thru Youth Startup
Donation protected
This organization is founded on the idea that all children should have the opportunity to lead an active life. We seek to promote an active lifestyle by donating repaired or rebuilt bikes to children and families who may not be able to afford one on their own. I have been donating bikes for several years now, and my goal is to expand.
My Story: I started working with kids in 2003 when I began leading a Girl Scout Troop in order to be close to my daughter. I also started coaching her softball team. As she grew out of these activities, I found that I wanted to keep working with kids. I was a Troop coleader for 7 years, coached softball for 9 years, and started teaching automotive for Willie Ross School for the Deaf in 2012. Around the same time, I started fixing up bikes to donate to less fortunate kids. Currently, I donate bikes through Springfield Public Schools and local church organizations. My dream is to expand beyond the Pioneer Valley, so that children from all over who need a little help to get outside and be active have that that opportunity!
The Goal: In order to start expanding we need to get registered as an official non-profit organization with the state. This costs money! We are trying to raise money to cover the legal, state, and accounting fees. We are also trying to raise funds to buy some startup materials -- a rim machine to repair bike rims, parts, and a stock of helmets and training wheels.
Anything that you can contribute will be greatly appreciated!
