Pediatric Asthma Education

My name is Kendrell Holley, and I am a registered respiratory therapist, certified asthma educator, and lifelong asthmatic. I started IMPACT-Wichita Inc (IMproving Pediatric Asthma Care Throughout Wichita) because I have noticed the lack of education regarding our kids and asthma. Statistically, 1 in 10 kids has asthma. My passion for asthma education comes from my personal experience and almost losing my life to asthma as a teenager. I have found that many families suffer due to their lack of knowledge regarding managing asthma. My problem right now is I want to provide my patients with asthma action kits for free and insurance does not cover the cost of them. The asthma action kits come with a peak flow meter, a valved holding chamber and an asthma diary, all tools necessary to assist kids with being successful with self-management of their asthma. This essential education is vital in helping to prevent visits to the local Emergency Room or Urgent Care facility. IMPACT-Wichita Inc is a nonprofit organization and 100% of any monies received will go to purchasing the asthma action kits that will be provided for the patients. I will be working with physicians within the city of Wichita, the Wichita Public School system and local organizations to provide asthma education to kids all across Wichita and surrounding areas.
