Peggy (Granny) Anable
Donation protected
Granny was wonderful. She's been bedridden in and out of hospice for 2 years on complications. Recently, things got worse, and she died...
Our grandmother had made all her arrangements ahead of time with the UCLA medical donation program. She signed up roughly 15 years ago with UCLA to donate her body to science. She wanted her remains to be put towards a positive use.
She passed away close to midnight on 12/4, so her son Joel and Grandson Sam contacted her hospice care and contacted UCLA. The UCLA program had previously agreed to facilitate the entire process with no additional costs to the family.
Unfortunately, Granny had contracted Covid19 during the first week of November. Even though she did beat Covid19 before her passing, UCLA learned of this and, with no warning or no notice, decided to reject her from the program after the fact.
Our grandmother worked with UCLA to make sure that her final arrangements were made over a decade in advance. Her son Joel and her grandson Sam struggled for over 8 hours after her death, trying to contact a crematorium or facility that could assist them.
They did find a facility able to come get her and get the process started, but the costs they require could not have been anticipated.
We are trying $2000.00 for Peggy Anable's cremation. We reached out to UCLA several times to beg them to honor their program and agreement, but due to a recent Covid19 infection, they refused.
This is not what she had planned or wanted. She wanted her passing to be as smooth for her family as possible. Her son, Joel, has been with her and caring for her for over 15 years. In 2017, Joel and Granny moved in with her grandson, Sam & Jennice, so Sam and jennice could not only help care for her but also help care for her financially.
Please help us in raising any funds to assist with this process. Any amount, gesture, or.even just a prayer is greatly appreciated."
