Peggy Gustafson

At the end of November my mom, Peggy, had a double brain aneurysm and a stroke. That afternoon we were supposed to be celebrating our family’s thanksgiving and we had to instead decide to put my mom through brain surgery or lay her to rest. Nothing hurts more then being given those options and hearing my dad say he can’t imagine losing his best friend of around forty years so suddenly. Us knowing how strong of a fighter my mom is we knew brain surgery was the way to go despite the risk and hesitations of the doctor. And she survived. 

Since then she’s been in Bryan, Madonna, andnow at QLI up in Omaha for rehab. I was hesitant at first to create this page because my parents have always taught me not to ask for money and to make your own or if you can’t afford it you don’t need it. For something like this though you can’t avoid the expensive surgeries and you want the best rehab. My mom has made some spectacular progress for what she’s went through and we are extremely lucky for that and all the support we’ve had through out the process. With making this page I hope to relieve some of the financial stress of covering these medical cost for my father and family who has already gone through so much emotionally. It’s hard to see my mom who was so full of life to struggle with recovering through this but we hope with more extensive rehab we can reach that point someday. Although the recovery process takes a long time and may never be 100% were so lucky to still have her with us today.
