Peloton Ride for 365

Tax deductible
On May 1st, 1997, my father, Dr. Mervin Goldstein, suffered a devastating stroke that changed his life forever. My dad has never allowed this tragedy or his disability dampen his outlook on life. He often says, "Everyday is a blessing" and despite the impact his stroke had on his speech and mobility, he works every day to stay strong and healthy. On a recent trip to visit my dad, he asked me to take him to cardiac rehab so I could see how he continues to exercise every week. I marveled at his dedication and determination to ride two different recumbent bikes for nearly an hour! You can see the joy exercise brings to his face as the cover photo I used for this campaign was taken on one of those bikes. Stroke has affected millions of lives and stroke does not discriminate, affecting young, old, men, women and people of every race. Stroke can rob people of their independence, their livelihood and even their ability to communicate.  As a physician myself, I have always marveled at how easily the brain can be damaged but how difficult and long it takes to repair itself. While great strides have been made in the area of stroke, much more remains to be done and I want to do my part to help. I am a member of Peloton, a digital streaming spin bike that lives in my basement. My time on this bike is my therapy and allows me to forget everything else, becoming absorbed in the music and the movement of Peloton. Often an instructor will say, "Think of someone important or special in your life and ride this song for them." I always think of my dad. I have decided to ride my Peloton for 365 consecutive days in order to raise awareness for stroke and raise money for the much needed research that remains to be done. It is my hope that one day stroke won't have the devastating effects it does today and we won't have to accept the disabling impact it has today. I would love for you to join me in making a difference! I have already completed 4 months of consecutive Peloton spinning and will reach my goal of 365 days on May 5th, 2020. I'm raising money to benefit National Stroke Association, and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me and my family! More information about National Stroke Association: The National Stroke Association's mission is to reduce the incidence and impact of stroke by delivering education and programs focused on prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and support to all impacted by stroke. #daVinciDoc74
