Pennies for Peret
Donation protected
Jon Peret is one of my favorite people.
When I think of someone I respect for who he/she is and how they have grown, I look at Jon. He credits his wife, Debbie, and their daughter with changing his life, pushing him towards a career in teaching and using his talents to help and influence students.
Jon is a beloved teacher at Carolina Forest High School, where the kids call him simply "Peret" and tell crazy stories of his in-class antics.
On top of his work with students, he volunteers his time with All 4Paws Animal Rescue in his hometown of Murrell's Inlet, SC.
Jon was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in 2017. He is currently in his third round of chemotherapy and is now being evaluated by John's Hopkins University.
For the past year, Jon has continued to work two jobs to make sure his family is taken care of. On top of his full teaching load at Carolina Forest, he teaches night classes at Coastal Carolina University.
Due to the extensive toll of the chemotherapy on his body, he has been forced to take this semester off. While the school district does have a sick bank, it will not kick in until he has missed 30 days of school and then only covers 2/3 of his pay.
On top of the leave he has already been forced to take, the family car needed $5,000 worth of repairs the beginning of January.
This family needs our help. Please, y'all. Let's help them pay these bills. Even with insurance, the cost of his treatments have wiped out their savings. All donations and prayers are greatly appreciated.
