Pennington African Cemetery
Donation protected
Through the efforts of a few volunteers the Pennington African Cemetery (PAC) has remained a beautiful historic landscape. However recent events have placed a severe hardship on the preservation of the Cemetery.
The primary concern is the threat that we lose control of the right of way which accesses the cemetery. The PAC is being sued by new neighbors so another house can be built closer to the cemetery. The PAC has hired an attorney to represent us in Mercer County court.
Funds are needed immediately.
The Pennington African Cemetery is one of the most important historic and cultural resources in the community. It was purchased by people of African descent as a place to bury their family during a time when racial segregation in all aspects of life was legal. This peaceful one acre parcel is the resting place of civil war veterans, teachers, laborers and other important people who laid the foundation for our community.
Your support is a direct contribution to the preservation of this historic resource. The Pennington African Cemetery Association thanks you.
