Helping Penny Coulter with Medical Expenses

Hi, My name is Peggy Apple and I am fundraising for the granddaughter of our close friends, Harry and Peggy Coulter.

It is a parent's nightmare. That phone call insisting you get your baby to the hospital right away. A call informing you that her latest blood levels are extremely abnormal. So, in the middle of the night on New Year’s Eve, no less, you head to Springfield MA with your 23 month old, only to be told when you arrived, you needed to head to Boston Children’s Hospital, a place better equipped to handle these issues. It was a whole week of testing, needle poking, prodding and diagnostics to Penny Coulter before her parents, Alex Coulter and Jen Martinez, could even start to comprehend the seriousness of Penny's issues. A whole week was spent in Boston Children's Hospital with Alex and Jenn never leaving Penny's bedside.

And it looks like the trips to Boston will continue for a while.

Penny has a genetic metabolic blood disorder that will need to be managed for the rest of her life with expensive medication.

She came back home to North Adams on Friday. Alex and Jen are busy making up for lost time of work and caring for their three other children plus they are gearing up for the next trip to Boston this week to meet with the Dietician and for, yes, more tests. A special diet needs to be implemented for Penny that requires Jen to monitor her protein levels.

Money is needed now to take care of medical expenses, groceries and to make up for that lost work time.

I am asking friends for a small donation to help this family weather this ongoing Medical issue for little Penny who will turn 2 next week. Funds are needed to help for gas, medication, and household expenses. Thank you for all your help.
