Penny's Story: From Struggle to Spotlight

Hi, I'm Penny! I'm an autobiographical storyteller from Rochester, NY. Since September of 2016, I've written and performed 5 different shows about my life all around the country, from as far west as Minneapolis, and as east as Washington, DC. As far south as Richmond, Virginia and as far north as...well. That would be Minneapolis again. I obviously didn't think this fully through
But one place I have never performed is the place I've always wanted to: The Biggest of Apples, The Helluvest of Towns, The City That Really Should Consider a Solid Bedtime Routine...
New York, New York!
Until Now!
I will be bringing my latest show, Mounting Washington: The Story of a Mountain and a Miracle, to the UnitedSolo festival! My debut will be Saturday, April 5th at 2pm. I've got everything I need: musicians, stage manager, bicycle, money...
Oops.
I forgot. I'm poor, and it's gonna cost a lot to get this show on the road and the cast and crew in a bed. But I'm doing this adventure with the faith that I will get what I need when I ask for it.
What I need is $6,000. So I'm asking. Please?
I'm gonna need more than then that, but this is a very special amount for me, when it comes to money:
Back when I was making all the wrong decisions in my life (including refusing to admit that I was transgender), I ended up bankrupt, foreclosed and divorced with two young children completely depending on me. So whenever something started to go wrong, or something in my house was malfunctioning, I would start panicking, and telling myself that I was going to have to spend $6,000 to fix something, and that amount was going to destroy my life.
As I continued to face and survive more and more issues, that number would still pop into my head whenever I was panicking about money. But now I knew it was fear, and I would choose to move in faith, that I could make it through whatever I thought was going to destroy me, and continue to thrive.
And what better way to conquer that fear than by hitting it on a fundraising campaign to help me fulfill one dream, and hopefully begin another?
So please, give whatever you can, and no more. I have faith we'll get there.
