Pensioner scam victims affecting future surgery
Donation protected
Hi my name is Kelly and I have setup this go fund me for my parents.
For those of you that have been luckily enough to meet my parents, Jan and John, you will know they have always been hard working people and giving in their community. They are now both in their 70s have always been vigilant with their money, spending and savings where ever possible.
Unfortunately this week, they received a message from Auspost. As they were expecting an important parcel (their passports)they followed the link. Within seconds, they had $12,000 taken from their accounts. They have been heartbroken losing their hard earned money. They have been working with their bank and the fraud squad, but sadly they have been told that they will only be able to get back $6,000 from that money.
Normally, they would just work through their loss, but my mum is due to travel overseas in 3 weeks for surgery (due to the extensive public health waitlists). They have already booked and organised flights ect for the surgery and they are unable to change the booking, for or risk losing the funds already outlaid. $6,000 may not seem like a lot to us but now as they are both pensioners, it will take them forever to pay back this money.
I have setup this Go Fund Me to help relieve the financial pressure they are now under, and so my Mum can still travel overseas for her surgery without this additional stress.
