Support Sherry's Fight Against Lung Cancer

Hi, my name is Jonathan Gibson and this beautiful woman in the picture is my Mother, Sherry Carter.

Back in January of this year, she was diagnosed with stage 4 Small Cell Lung Cancer that has spread to her spine, hips, a few ribs and lymph nodes and was covering one of her main airways. So far she’s had 4 of the 6 rounds of chemo which has shrunk the large mass in her upper right lung. This has been heartbreaking news for her and our family! She is a fighter and doesn’t like to ask for help but she’s been out of work since the middle of February. She has been drawing short term disability through work but that will run out soon at which time she will no longer have insurance or the short term disability. Once officially separated from work she will be able to file for social security disability. It is very difficult to live with how expensive medical and just the cost of living is these days. We are hoping it won’t take too long to get approved for SSD, until then all living expenses as well as all medication, treatments and medical expenses will come directly out of pocket!

This money raised is going to be used for her medical bills and day to day living in her last months of life with us. Anything that you could donate is greatly appreciated and would mean a lot to my mother and our family during this difficult time.

UPDATE…..June 28, 2024

So we met with the new Dr this morning and the mass in my upper right lung has almost doubled in size in less that 2 months since the last round of chemo. I kinda knew it was growing again because I’ve been struggling to breathe lately but was really hoping that it was just inflammation from my RA flaring up! So now I’m scheduled with the radiation tech next Friday July 5th to consult and hear his plan. I will know more after that Dr consultation and update from there!
