People Culture Scholarship Retreat Fund

We don’t believe in vacations or mission trips. We believe that all trips should require us (BIPOC) to engage and support the culture we are immersed in while living like the royalty we are. That way, we can disrupt the generational trauma within us and rewrite how we respond to life's challenges.
Thank you for donating to POC's scholarship fund. We are committed to making this retreat accessible to 5 people in need of financial assistance- free of charge. See the scholarship application here: https://www.peopleofcultureretreats.com/scholarship
YOGA CLASSES
Despite originating from people of color, Western yoga has long been whitewashed. "For those who are BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, people of color), that means that walking into a studio often becomes an experience of seeing no bodies that look like their own, being in the minority, not seeing themselves in the teacher, and feeling othered—not centered—in a practice that’s supposed to act like a connective tissue between all people." -Well + Good
Each day retreat attendees will participate in a new style of yoga so that they can expand their understanding of and connection with the practice.
Classes:
Power Yoga (Foundation)
Trauma Recovery Yoga
Yin Yoga
Root Chakra Sound Bath
ROOT CHAKRA WORKSHOPS
This retreat is focused on understanding, supporting and strengthening the root chakra. The root Chakra is associated with the feeling of safety and grounding. Our workshops will dive into everything that builds one's foundation- family, shelter, money etc.
In a world where BIPOC have to fight to simply breathe, we think it's important to share tools that strengthen our internal and external foundation.
Workshops:
Uproot: Family Tree + Inner Child
Weeding + Planting Seeds: Release + Manifest
Building Foundation: Self Care + Community
Stems: Growth + Trimming
EXCURSIONS
Hiking and Snowboarding aren't traditionally activities you see BIPOC participating in... and it's a shame because they are two additional tools to help us access a mediative state.
We're pushing ourselves out of our comfort zones to expand our emotional intelligence and body awareness.
