Call for Donations to the People's Legal Defence Fund

Over the past year, the crack-down on lawful protest for numerous causes, especially Palestine, has been unprecedented in Montreal and across Canada. Peaceful protestors are being met with unwarranted arrests, intimidation, and legal challenges, threatening their ability to speak truth to power. Those in Montreal fighting for justice have been facing lawfare like never before.

That’s where the People’s Legal Defence Fund comes in.

This grassroots initiative was created to ensure no one stands alone in the fight for justice. We’re raising funds to cover legal and related costs for individuals facing repression for exercising their fundamental rights to protest. This includes:

- Defending those unjustly charged during pro-Palestinian and other social justice protests in Montreal;

- Filing lawsuits against police misconduct and the systemic violations of civil liberties;

- Providing resources for community organizing to resist oppressive policies and practices;

Every dollar raised will go directly toward legal fees, filing costs, and essential support for those targeted. With your help, we can level the playing field and hold authorities accountable for their actions.
