Please Help Pepi and Luke Find a Home

Hi, my name is Heather and I am trying to raise money for my dear friend Pepi and her son Luke. To know her is to love her. And if you don’t know her personally, Pepi is a disabled senior who cares for her severely mentally handicapped son Luke (35) and will soon face homelessness. I wouldn’t normally ask for anyone to help her monetarily, however, Pepi has faced an incredible amount of hardship in the last few years and if there is anyone in the world who deserves this, it is her.

I met Pepi at a recovery meeting 4 year ago. I was one month sober and as I walked up to the meeting, I felt drawn to this woman who welcomed me like she would her own family. We were both newly sober at the time, and we have stuck together up until this day. My daughter calls her Aunt Pepi, and she has been like a mother to me and many others.

Pepi brings her son Luke to the afternoon meeting every single day- and she has been for over 4 years. She is a staple in our community and has shown tremendous strength, inspiring others (me included) that sobriety is possible.

Being a single mom to 2 boys, one in the military and the other so mentally handicapped, living in poverty everyday and learning to live a sober life is more than most can handle. But things just got worse. 2 years ago, her younger son Justin who was in the Army, tragically died unexpectedly from an accidental gun shot wound to the head. To make matters worse, Pepi got the call first thing in the morning on her birthday. Justin and Luke are her entire world, and with Justin gone, all she had left was Luke and Justin’s sweet dog Omega. She has struggled immensely with her grief, but continues to stay sober, and put on a brave face for her adult son, Luke. He doesn’t have the full capacity to understand what happened, but he often times cries at night to Pepi about how much he misses his brother.

Fast forward to today. The home she has been renting and living in for the last 10 years, where she raised both of her sons, is being sold. She has reached out to many resources, but the wait lists are long and many aren’t going to accept Pepi, Luke and Omega. Luke needs his mom. He is completely and solely dependent on her. For showers, going to the bathroom, eating, everything. And Omega is all she has left of her youngest Justin.

I want to raise anything I can to help Pepi and Luke. They deserve the world, and at the least, some security and stability at home. Please consider donating to this fundraiser, it is for an extremely deserving small family and 100% of the profits will go to them.
