Help Heat PERC Homeless Shelter!
Donation protected
Dear PERC friends,
The temperature outside is plunging into the low 30s this week, and our HVAC system is on the fritz! (For those technically inclined, it's a 5 ton cooling tower with 120,000 BTU's of heating.) We're fretting over the steep price tag of repairs - will you help chip in?
The area currently without heat is the 1200 square foot dining room of our homeless shelter in Union City, NJ , which also doubles as an overflow* sleeping space at night.
Right now, we have approximately 50 guests sleeping in the unheated area each night.
Repairs are scheduled for completion by the end of the week, and then we'll be hit with a large invoice. Our contractor has generously discounted the price as much as possible, but he needs to pay the bills too!
As we enter the holiday season, please consider making an impact right here in your own community.
About us: for over 30 years, PERC Shelter has provided emergency overnight shelter, a soup kitchen, food pantry, and help transitioning to permanent housing to individuals and families in Hudson County.
With our warmest thanks,
PERC
(Palisades Emergency Residence Corporation)
(*Overflow = the number of homeless individuals in the area totally exceeds our sheltering capacity. We have space for only 40 shelter beds in our dormitory area, but we prefer not to turn people away, so we offer our dining room to additional guests.)
