New message from Vanessa and Osiris:
We love you all so much this has brought a little joy in the nightmare we are living. Because of the tremendous trauma this has impacted our family, most of the fund will be used for getting us through this ordeal and mental health support for our children who also lost their school and We cannot thank you enough, and we hope one day we can pay it forward any way we can. We have slightly changed the objective of this GoFund me and felt necessary to let you know. We are so fortunate to have you in our lives.
Message from Vanessa and Osiris:
Thank you so much to everyone for the support. Knowing we have such a caring community and group of friends near and far is the best remedy for the sadness and despair this tragedy has brought. We have been making all the sad insurance calls, cancelling services, etc. We have also been looking for housing and thinking of next steps. At the same time providing stability to our children, who also lost their beloved school.
We can’t thank you enough and wish we could give each one of you hugs.
All our love, Vanessa & Osiris.
With a heavy heart, I add one more family to our LA community fire disaster:
The Perez Salas family.
I am creating this GoFundme to help them
in this devastating moment in their lives.
Their lovely little casita was destroyed in the Eaton Canyon fire on Wednesday, January 8th as well as their beloved school: Oak Knoll Montessory. We have no idea how this catostrophy will affect their lives and mental health.
They have lost absolutely everything.
The Perez Salas family, like many of us, are immigrants. Originally from Venezuela, they found community and a place to call home in Los Angeles. If you know what it's like to move from your home country and create roots elsewhere, you know how important it is to finally have a place one can call home.
And now, with the fire, all of this has been destroyed.
The Perez Salas family have no family anywhere near in the United States. As many families in exile, close ones are usually oceans away. They are relying on the support of all us Angelenos and our NELA community.
They are resilient, and they will rise again from these ashes.
They need some immediate help while they get back on their feet, and this GoFundMe will help them get through this nightmare ordeal and secure mental health support for their neurodivergent children and for themselves as this trauma will linger in their lives forever.
