Performance of LaRocca's Mass of the Americas

The city of Miami will join cities such as San Fransisco, Washington DC, and Tijuana, Mexico to premier the incredible work of Frank LaRocca's Mass of the Americas on October 3rd at Epiphany Catholic Church.

Frost School of Music's DMA Student in Choral Conducting, Richard Carrillo, will put a Festival Choir of singers from across the Archdiocese of Miami to join members of the Frost School Chorale to perform this Mass as part of his doctoral dissertation.

This Mass was conceived by Archbishop Cordileone as a twinned tribute to Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception (patroness of the United States) and Our Lady of Guadalupe (patroness of Mexico and all the Americas), and elevates much-loved Mexican folk hymns to Our Lady and includes possibly the first Ave Maria hymn ever composed in Nahautl, the Aztec language Our Lady spoke to St. Juan Diego (the “Aue Maria”)

The first commercial recording of this work, which was produced by Capella Records and performed by the Benedict XVI Institute’s Choir and Orchestra, directed by renowned international conductor Richard Sparks, debuted at #1 on the Billboard Classical Charts for its 2022 release, and was named one of the Top 10 Albums for the entire year.
