Permanent Housing For an Indigenous Family
Donation protected
My dream is permanent and stable housing, something I've never had. Being a two spirit native growing up in foster care homelessness has been a recurring problem in my life. I've experienced a cycle of homelessness for many years up until now. The house I am living in now is the first bedroom I've had in three years. My landlord wants to sell the house I have been living in since last November. Due to covid I have been unemployed since March and could not receive unemployment benefits, and now my landlord wants to sell the house I am living in within the next few months. These circumstances put me into a very scary and unstable situation, not sure where to go with two pets and no job, despite looking for months. Facing homelessness once again in my life, during a pandemic, right before winter, with no permanent options in sight is why I feel my only option is to ask for help to buy this house.
I have been displaced from my family my entire life, this home would provide a place to bring together an entire indigenous family who never had a chance to grow together. If I can buy this house not only would I gain stability that always seemed impossible, I would also be able to help my full native mother who has been homeless her whole life. I never thought providing my mother housing, rest, and peace before would be possible due to having to always take care of myself. The opportunity to buy this house opens up also providing safety and stability and a place to live for my mother, especially before winter. Also purchasing this house I will continue to provide housing for people who can't afford regular rent prices, because I want to help other people in the way that I never got help before now. Asking for this help would solve me and my family's problems with homelessness for life. This would all seem like a far away dream to me but due to having no other options I need to make this a reality.
