Perry’s Fight Against Glioblastoma
Donation protected
Perry came home ill after work on December 2, 2020. The initial symptoms mimicked COVID-19 virus, and after more than a week in bed Glenda rushed him to a local ER. Shockingly Perry was diagnosed with a brain mass. He was transported to the Tampa General Hospital Neurology Unit where they performed an MRI and was diagnosed with a glioblastoma brain tumor. Life-saving emergency surgery was performed the next day for tumor debulking by Dr. Greenberg and his exceptional staff. The initial outcomes discussed with neurosurgery did not leave anyone overly optimistic, they went from COVID-19 to a rare brain tumor in a short amount of time leaving the family a lot to process. Perry had amazing support from his wife and two sons which was greatly complicated by the pandemic guidelines. The family was required to await results of the 4 1/2 hour surgery at a nearby hotel.
Perry was blessed by God with a successful surgery with no neurological deficits. In Perry’s emotional state he stated “Dr. Greenberg is the best neurosurgeon and God has blessed me with beyond my wildest dreams.”
Perry returned home Saturday, December 12 and his greatest hurdle was adjusting to his medication. He was suffering vivid hallucinations and was unable to sleep. With medication adjustments there are limited hallucinations and he has been able to sleep.
The future will consist of six weeks of daily radiation treatments at the Moffitt Cancer Center along with daily oral chemotherapy. Maintenance therapy will consist of daily chemotherapy for the rest of his life. As you can imagine this is a life-changing diagnosis that has evolved in a short period of time. Perry has acknowledged a deep and spiritual relationship with God in his own words “it’s more then I ever imagined.”We ask that each of you that read this will commit to daily prayer for Perry and his family.
Our prayer requests: That he would maintain a positive attitude and have faith of the Holy Spirit working with in him. That he could obtain remission from his cancer and that his family would be uplifted by prayers and maintain good health to continue to support Perry. May all experience the peace that passes all understanding that only God provides.
Lastly if you are able to financially support Perry and his family to offset medical cost that are not covered by insurance for this rare tumor it would be greatly appreciated. May God bless you for reading our request, and your kindness and prayers are a true blessing.
