Persad Family Emergency

Family and friends,

My name is Laura Monfiston and I truly appreciate y’all taking a moment to read my story. 3 years ago my husband Dominique and I moved our family from North Carolina all the way across the country to Minot, North Dakota. Little did we know that the Lord would give us the opportunity to cross paths with the Persad family from Trinidad. Lal, Eleanor, Luke, Elise, and Lael quickly became a part of our lives. Their children are the same ages as Gabriel and Parker and they also attended the same school. We grew very close and attended school functions and sports events and also celebrated birthdays and Thanksgiving together. When it was time for my family to relocate to Virginia this year we hated to leave the Persad family behind. We left North Dakota in February but of course stayed in touch with them and missed them very much.

We were blindsided on the morning of April 18th when I received the devastating phone call from Eleanor that her husband, Lal, at the young age of 42 was in the ICU on a ventilator on maximum life support due to a heart attack. Lal was sent immediately to Minneapolis to the University of Minnesota. There he spent 1 week in ICU and was doing great, but he had a 2nd heart attack which took him back to the ICU for another week. He has spent 1 month in the hospital and is now left with kidney damage as well. Once he is released his wife, Eleanor will have to transport him to Bismark (which is 2 hours each way) at least 3 days a week for dialysis and cardiac rehab, while also working and raising 3 wonderful children.

I have created this Go Fund Me page to help the Persad family during this very difficult time. Eleanor is a nurse at Trinity hospital and is always helping others so this is our opportunity to give back and show her our support.
