Personal Safety Workshop for Women in Need
Dear Friends and Family,
In spring of 2018, I took a self defense class taught by IMPACT Personal Safety. As a young girl in an urban area, I had always worried about walking places alone or with friends. I would avoid quiet streets and quicken my pace if ever there was a man walking behind me. I felt small and weak in comparison with stories of assaults on women. Now, having graduated the class, I can whole-heartedly say that it was the most empowering experience of my life. I used strength I didn't know my little 5'3'' self possessed. I experienced pride and triumph every time I instinctually knew the assailant’s (padded instructor) next move and the practice fight ended with him on the ground. I am a changed person and it was an educational experience that I believe every woman deserves.
Alexandria House is an organization my family has been involved with. I've seen firsthand how much help they give women and children in need and heard the horrifying stories of what these individuals have endured. My goal is to offer a personal safety clinic for the brave women and teens at Alexandria House so they can have the chance to feel confident, secure, and empowered.
This fund is to raise $1600 which is the cost for Impact to teach the clinic.
Any donation would be greatly appreciated.I hope that you are able to see the value that I see in giving these women this opportunity. Thank you so much.
