Support Mudslide Victims in Peru

Please read this story and look at the videos and photos.

Last week on March 15th, the coast of Peru went through one of the worst mudslides (huaycos) in history, killing 78 people and destroying cities and homes.

More than 62,642 Peruvians don't have fresh water and fresh groceries. FAMILIES HAVE LOST EVERYTHING. It's heartbreaking to see images and videos of women and their children trying to get out of the mud.

Watch the video below to see how this strong woman made it alive:

---------

My name is Silvia Li Sam and I was born and raised in Lima, Peru. I live now in San Francisco, California working in Silicon Valley and know that I can use the resources I have to bring fresh water and food to my sisters and brothers in Peru.

Together with my Peruvian friends in Silicon Valley, Carolina HuarancaRoxanne Díaz and Angie Carrillo, will do anything possible to provide BASIC NEEDS to those who need it the most.

To all my family and friends, we are starting this fundraiser for the thousands of people in Peru who are being affected by the torrential storms caused by El Niño, that has flooded the rivers and caused flash floods through the streets and homes, and has caused a lot of damage, loss of property, and personal effects.

HELP ME BRING FRESH WATER & FOOD:

With only $5 (skip a cup of coffee for 1 day): you are helping us buy 10 bottles of fresh water

With $50: you are helping us buy 30 meals

With $100: you are helping us buy 200 bottles of fresh water (1 week of water for a family)

You know how to do the math. Please support this cause.

All the proceeds will be used to purchase water and food for people living in the country and small towns of Peru. The food and water will be purchased online, picked up by our network of family and friends, and delivered to city halls. We ensure 100% transparency in the process and our efforts will be documented.

Our friend Yanire Romero de Souza Ferreyra , a software engineer in Lima, Peru will be buying everything herself and sending it to the north of Peru (the most affected area).  We're evaluating the best way to send all the food/water right now given the corruption and to ensure it gets to the families most in need.

The money will be used to buy:
- Water
- Non-perishable goods
- Health kits

We've been also notified by our trusted network in Lima, Peru that people in towns nearby and up north are in desperate need of 'health kits' (i.e. diapers, baby wipes, soap, pads, tooth brushes, shampoo). People whose homes were close to overflown rivers have been temporarily placed in camps. So in addition to needing food and clean water, they need to stay clean to avoid any diseases (i.e. dengue, zika, cholera) that may arise given the living circumstances they're in. Donors don't normally give away health kits as they tend to be more expensive but we want to meet this need and allocate some of the money we're fundraising to make sure people stay healthy.

What will happen to the money?

Roxanne will receive all the $ from GoFundMe in her bank account and will wire all the money to our friend Yanire. She'll buy everything from a retailer, delivering herself to a local TV channel, which has all the necessary trucks and helicopters.

Best regards,
Silvia, Carolina, Roxanne, Angie
