Pesto started displaying neuro symptoms a month ago along with mild lameness. We immediately did tests and discovered she had EPM, a protozoan that horses can pick up from grazing. It causes profound neuro symptoms and can cause death if untreated. We immediately started compounded meds. Last week she rapidly went downhill. We even had the euthanasia conversation :(. As a last resort we changed meds and started fluids/ DMSO. The medication is Marquis and costs about $400 a tube. Pesto will go through a tube every 4 days because of her large size/ weight. Anyone want to help, again?? I know. I know. Pesto is giving us all grey hairs. The positive news is she appears to be responding slowly. We are cautiously optimistic right now.
Pesto has developed a recurrence of colitis and mild laminitis. She needs immediate treatment with medications to try and save her life. We successfully treated her last year. Hoping she responds to meds the way she did the first time around. She needs help and it is costly.
Our Pesto has Lyme disease again. Not the best Christmas gift , especially right now. Winter is our toughest season. Because of her size and colitis history it is very costly to treat her. Can you help us take care of Pesto’s emergency needs?
