I never could've imagined, that it 43 years old I would be in the hospital with the doctors told me that my heart was only pumping 25% of what it should be. Up until now, I have always been able to work and pay my bills. But unfortunately Life has different plans. About Four months ago I started getting short of breath, I could've sworn that I was just overweight and that if I could just lose a few pounds,It would take care of it. One day I couldn't breathe when we were moving into our new duplex, and my son had to drive me to the emergency room. They told me that I had pneumonia in my right lung, and treated me for it. After another few months my breathing problems came back. This time I went to my primary doctor, Who I had avoided going to, because I didn't have insurance. I was told that I had developed diabetes, I got in trouble for gaining so much weight and I was also told that I had lost all of my testosterone. I continued having breathing problems through all of this, so I tried a different doctor in the same clinic. She immediately did a EKG and a chest x-ray, discovering that the upper two chambers of my heart were enlarged. She did some blood test, and made appointments for me to have an echo cardio gram, and a nuclear stress test, in the meantime my breathing problems continued to get worse. A day or two after my stress test, my new physician called me and told me to get to the hospital immediately, at this point I had not been able to work for over two months and I was already just barely getting by. I was already a month behind on rent and having to make arrangements to pay the utilities. When I got to the hospital they told me that my heart was only pumping 20% of what it should be, and that I was lucky to be standing there, they admitted me immediately. I stayed in the hospital for five days, and had a heart Cath done, I only had one artery that was blocked 40%. They discovered that I wasn't breathing, and my sleep apnea was worse than we thought it was. My blood oxygen level was dropping to 70% at night when I would stop breathing. That combined with my weight, and the water weight that I had put on, Took it's toll. They put me on Lasix, and I have lost over 30 pounds in water weight, but at this point my heart is so weak, that they're making me wear a defibrillator vest for the next three months, and I cannot work until my heart gets back to at least 50%. I've never been in a position where I can't work, and I've never had to ask for help, but now I have to in order to keep me and my son from being evicted. Hopefully this will give me a chance to get better and I can go back to work and function normally and maybe even recover 100%, but without assistance, it's just not going to be possible. The amount that I posted, $2500, probably won't cover everything but I still want to try and do part of this myself. I want to thank everybody in advance that will help and has already helped, God bless.....
