Move Us into Our New Home

In 2005, Pete was working for Parks Oilfield when the symptoms he'd had for months got so bad he took a leave of absence that summer to try to find out what was wrong with him. No answers came. That fall we were hit by Hurricane Rita. At the time it seemed we had gotten away unscathed.
Fast forward five years. Pete is now unable to hold any job. Still no answers, as we have no insurance. Trying to get Social Security Disability. I'm working and the only income for our family. I can barely provide for us. And we are learning that we did indeed sustain damage from Rita to our uninsured home that just wasn't evident in the immediate aftermath of the storm.
For one thing, water apparently driven by the 100+ mile per hour winds, had seeped in under the roof and was starting to warp the ceiling on our old model trailer house. But worse yet, the floor was rotting all throughout our home. All of the insulation under the trailer had been blown out from under by the storm. This had led to sweating and warping.
At the end of 2012, Pete finally was awarded his disability! And just this past July became eligible for his Medicare benefits. He's actively pursuing answers and help. I'm still working full time at Munro's Uniform Services. My income still barely covers our cost of living. Pete's small monthly stipend provides us with one good dependable mode of transportation and covers his co-pays for all the tests, doctor visits and medications.
For the past year, we have been praying and searching for a way to get out of our rapidly decaying home and into something else. This October, God blessed us and led us to a double wide trailer with wood floors, sheetrock walls and a tile roof! Unbelievably inexpensive. We were able to purchase it with a small loan from the credit union and help from Bubba and Candi.
That brings us to why we are here. We have 60 days to move the trailer from Doucette to Caneyhead. The move will cost between $4,500 to $5,200. Once we get the trailer here, before we move in, we need to re-tile the roof, put down new flooring and repaint throughout the home. Pete estimates another $5,000 to get it ready for us to move in.
Our small line of credit is consumed by the car payment and the note to purchase the trailer. Through the past ten years we have tried our best to sustain ourselves with very few handouts and government assistance. Yet, we know there are people who love us and want to help us.
This is what has brought us to GoFundMe. We are turning to our family, friends, church family, neighbors, co-workers, online friends and any one else who knows us to help us accomplish this task and move into our new home. Any donation brings us that much closer to realizing this dream. Please help us! At his point, money matters most of all, but there will be other opportunities to help with the actual work to the home if you cannot spare money.
Thank you for reading this post. May God bless & keep you.
