Pete Berkholtz Memorial Scholarship
Donation protected
After a long and fulfilling life, Peter Berkholtz passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2016. Peter dedicated 21 years of his life to supporting youth soccer, specifically through MSI (Montgomery Soccer Inc.), and we are honored to raise money for soccer scholarships in his memory.
In his 21 years of involvement with MSI, Peter was a dedicated parent on the side line, never missing his children's games. He was a team manager for his oldest son's team, and a head coach for both of his son's teams for 11 years. Peter was nominated by the parents of his son's team and was awarded Coach of the Year by MSI in 2004. Despite being a purple heart recipient for his time serving as a Marine in Vietnam, he regarded the honor of receiving Coach of the Year as "the most rewarding acknowledgement of [his] life."
Unknown to many, Peter would personally pay for dues and equipment for players who were less fortunate and could not afford entry on their own. This fund is all about continuing Peter's selflessness. We would love to be able to raise enough funds to provide at least 50 children with the opportunity to play MSI Soccer when they would be unable to otherwise. Peter always believed the life-lessons learned (i.e. teamwork, commitment, perseverance, respect) from participating in organized sports played a pivotal role in a child's development.
Thank you so much for contributing to Peter's legacy.
