Peter Barr's Recovery from Brain Surgery
Donation protected
Hello,
Most of you know Peter as our trails specialist and long time employee of Conserving Carolina. You also probably know he is most often found outdoors creating hiking and mountain biking trails on the land he loves and adventuring across the country climbing mountains!
You may not know that he recently had to undergo brain surgery to remove a tumor from the cerebellum of his brain. This was an unexpected surgery and it has taken a toll on him and his family. Fortunately, Peter came through the surgery well, and the doctors are confident they were able to remove all of the tumor. However, he still faces a long and uncertain recovery timeline. Right now his biggest struggles are vision and balance issues, which are hopefully temporary and will resolve with time and patience.
Many people have asked how they can help support Peter, his wife Allison and their daughter Lillian, so we wanted to share this page. Their family will use the funds raised to pay for medical expenses, travel costs (surgery was at Duke), child care for Lillian so Allison can care for Peter, as well as meals and lost income as Peter recovers.
If you feel that you can help out, please contribute any amount you wish. The family is thankful for all donations both large and small. As you know, in difficult times, individual offers of help and visits can be overwhelming and financial assistance is often the most helpful. We hope to make a meaningful impact with these contributions and allow the family to focus on Peter's recovery.
