Peter Estes

November 8, 1983 – October 15, 2023

It is with the deepest sadness that we say goodbye to dear Peter. Gone far too soon, unexpectedly at just 39 years old, weeks before his 40th birthday.

This memorial page has been set up in memory of Peter and in support of his one-year-old son, Meekha, and Thabi (Meekha’s mom). Peter’s greatest love was Meekha, and ensuring he is cared for is the goal of this campaign, in honor of Peter’s memory.

But first, a little about Peter. Peter was born and raised in Pittsburgh by his parents, David and Nancy Estes, and spent most of his childhood playing with his siblings, Dave and Holly. He was a natural athlete and regularly made it onto All Star teams in both baseball and soccer. For his entire existence, Peter was the epitome of a "hometown boy", attending Mt. Lebanon High School before earning an undergraduate degree in accounting at West Virginia University, or “Dub V” as he liked to call it. After college, he worked in various accounting jobs in the Pittsburgh area, most notably ten years for the Pittsburgh Public School District and most recently for Wesley Family Services. He was an avid sports fan, and loved watching, analyzing, and talking about the Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates. He enjoyed fishing with his father in Deep Creek, Maryland, and between the two of them, they had many fish stories to tell, including "the one that got away".

Peter’s love of being a new dad, his charm, his humor, his ability to light up a room with his smile, his love of sports, his love of good food, his love of fishing, his love of being around those he cared for will all be sorely missed by those who love him so much: his mom and dad, sister and brother, brother and sister in law, aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and friends.

Peter, may you rest in peace and love, knowing that your ‘mini’ Meekha will be cherished and cared for. We will make sure he remembers his dad the way we remember you.
