Hi, My name is Jilly Cronin, and I'm Peters sister, he has 2 brothers, Jon who lives in Canada and Steve, we also have a half brother Nick. Peter is an Uncle to 10 nieces and nephews, and was an ace at babysitting!! He loved everyone although he was taken advantage of most his life, he had his difficult times with drink, fair to say my brother had a difficult life, he was misunderstood by many people. Sometimes he got into trouble with the police for petty crimes, mostly fuelled by drink! He had a lovely lady called Jackie, who he loved and cared for, they lived in an apartment block in Sunbury (which housed people with addiction) he lived on the 1st floor and Jackie on ground floor, he looked after her, and Jackie looked after him, neither had 2 pennies to rub together! Sadly and tragically a fire broke out in Peter's kitchen, he must of smelt the smoke and heard the alarms, but by the time he got to kitchen the fire was fierce, so fierce it blew a hole through his kitchen window, and the blast knocked him out, he lay unconscious for some time before the fire brigade arrived, they pulled him out but was already in cardiac arrest, they managed to revive him, he was taken to St Peters hospital where he was put in an induced coma, he had cyanide poisoning and smoke inhalation, amazingly the burns he had were superficial! ICU worked so hard to clear the cyanide toxins built up in his liver and kidneys gall bladder, but lungs and heart ok! This went on for 6 weeks, when Peter had the tracheostomy we managed to speak and he said he would love to eat a rump steak! Suddenly and overnight he had to be taken off dialysis as his kidneys failed as did his liver and turned jaundiced. We were called by consultants Thursday the 31st Oct had a discussion and it was decided that Peters ventilator life support would be switched off. He had his last rights read to him by hospital chaplain. He died on the 2nd Nov, heartbroken as his siblings we are not in a position to pay for his funeral for one reason or another, but all financial. He had no life insurance or funeral insurance sadly. He was referred to the coroner, his body not released yet as having post mortem . He never had many friends and those he did have always got him drunk and stole his bank card, social services were aware of this. Such sadness and heartbreak, and none of us have enough money for a funeral. I know lots of you don't know him, but he was loved very much by his family. Please help if you can, forever greatful.
