Peter Villa Leadership Academy Fundraiser

Our son, Peter Villa, a sixth-grader at Socorro Middle School in Socorro ISD, was nominated by his Honor's English teacher, Ms. Deena Delgado, for the 2023 Lone Star Leadership Academy based on his "demonstrated academic ability and leadership skills". The Lone Star Leadership Academies are Sunday-Friday overnight camps offered throughout the summer for outstanding 4th–8th graders. Campers have the opportunity to explore significant sites in Texas’ three largest metropolitan areas with other outstanding students—all before 9th grade! We need to raise funds for Peter to be able to cover the cost of the tuition, lodging for five nights, all meals, and charter bus transportation throughout the program. Every one, five, or ten dollars will go a long way toward helping us make this amazing leadership opportunity a reality for our son! We humbly ask for any help you can provide, no matter how small it may be. It all adds up quickly.

During the camps, young leaders travel to Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin/San Antonio, or Houston/Galveston for a week of fun, learning, leadership development, and visits to significant Texas sites. In addition to improving their leadership abilities, participants gain self-confidence and independence and develop new friendships with other high-achieving students from across the state. Peter has been accepted into this summer's academy and will be traveling to Dallas/Fort Worth. This particular camp is for the youngest, 4th–6th grade leaders! He will kick off each day with a new leadership skill in morning leadership groups. Then it's off on the charter bus to experience exciting and fun Texas sites all over Dallas/Fort Worth! Many of the sites tie in with the leadership skill of the day. The camp highlights include touring one of only two facilities where U.S. paper currency is printed at the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing, watching genuine Texas cowhands drive the Fort Worth Herd of Texas longhorns through the Fort Worth Stockyards, learning about the life and legacy of John F. Kennedy at the Sixth Floor Museum, holding military artifacts from the Civil War at the Texas Civil War Museum, and touring AT&T Stadium, – Home of the Dallas Cowboys, and Globe Life Field, – Home of the Texas Rangers!
