Hi, this is Dr. Beshikwashi Peter Ugbe. He’s our son, brother, friend, family, and a lot more.
On 08/28/2020, he was diagnosed with a rare type of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma cancer, and after two courses of chemotherapy in Nigeria, was flown outside for advanced care and management.
Before his diagnosis, he was a medical Doctor practicing in the northern part of Nigeria and doing his part to help the sick and needy.
The fight against cancer goes on. There is no one I know who can say they DO NOT have a friend or relative who has battled this terrible illness. We have tried to keep his treatment going with the resources we have, but with the increasing demands and complications, it has taken a financial toll and stress on all of us.
We are appealing urgently for financial support to continue his treatment to prevent further spread and save his life. The funds will go a long way to help keep his treatment ongoing.
The costs associated with radiation and/or chemotherapy is very exorbitant. I am asking for support for his on-going treatment. Below is a lists of possible treatment plans the specialist might take:
1. Chemotherapy: Chemotherapy uses drugs to destroy fast-growing cells, such as cancer cells. The drugs are usually administered through a vein, but can also be taken as a pill, depending on the specific drugs you receive.
2. Radiation therapy: Radiation therapy uses high-powered beams of energy, such as X-rays and protons, to kill cancer cells.
3. Bone marrow transplant: A bone marrow transplant, also known as a stem cell transplant, involves using high doses of chemotherapy and radiation to suppress your bone marrow. Then healthy bone marrow stem cells from your body or from a donor are infused into your blood where they travel to your bones and rebuild your bone marrow.
The costs of his treatment has been estimated at $300,000 to $400,000. With a rare type of cancer and a timeline to save his life, we are appealing for all the help we can get, as nothing is too small. God Bless you all for your kindness.
