Peter's Weston Market

As you all know, Peter’s has been in business for over 40 years serving the town of Weston, myself specifically for over 30 years. I’m writing to ALL of you because now, we need your help!
What a crazy few weeks it has been for the world, our country, and our small town! Peter’s has been very busy adjusting to this new “normal” adapting rapidly to an online model to meet the needs of our community, forcing me into the 21st century. I’m sure I’ve spoken with most of you over the telephone the past few weeks. I am appealing to you now, thinking I would never do this, because I need your help. THANK YOU!!
Our operations will continue to evolve as required to meet the needs of our customers. Nevertheless, while our online orders have increased, our foot traffic in the store has decreased significantly resulting in less overall shoppers, fewer deli orders, last minute purchases from the bakery and of course revenue from the self-service line - hot food, salad, and soup. We are also losing employees; some are home caring for loved ones while others afraid of becoming sick, have chosen to stay home. We respect the choices our employees have made. As a result of our limited staff, we have few employee-shoppers working longer hours.
We have already been having a tough year in sales, and this situation has only exacerbated our already precarious financial state of affairs.
In addition to continuing to stay open, we plan to use the capital as follows:
1) Pay our vendors, many of whom require either payments up front or cash on delivery
2) Install self-checkout lanes
3) Hire additional healthy shoppers to help us service your orders
4) Upgrade our Information Systems to improve our online ordering system
5) Catch up on bills - we need to pay down debt
These are difficult time for everyone! If you cannot help financially, we welcome your ideas. For instance, do we have any volunteer programmers/developers out there?
We are overwhelmed with the love and support we have received from the community the past few weeks and for all our loyal customers over our past 46 years in business. My parents were part owners of Peter’s Weston Market before I took it over in the early 90’s. Karen and I met at Peter’s in 1984. Since that time we have put our hearts and souls into the Market and the Town of Weston.
Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated. Please stay safe and well.
With love,
Jim Magee and the entire staff at Peter’s Weston Market
